TZM Alloy Boat Molding Temperature

As we all know, the temperature has a great influence on the performance of metal. Generally, the processing temperature of metal is slightly higher than the ductile-brittle transition temperature, but below the recrystallization temperature. During TZM alloy boat manufacturing, should well control the molding temperature, which has a significant impact on TZM alloy boat’s properties. Its molding temperature is higher than the ductile-brittle transition temperature, but below the recrystallization temperature. TZM alloy has high melting point, high strength, good corrosion resistance and good high temperature mechanical properties, but it is room temperature brittle is large and high temperature oxidation resistance is poor, therefore it hard to machining. For this material, should process when the material has good plasticity, so as to obtain high-quality products.

Though stamping and welding TZM alloy plates can obtain TZM alloy boat, and it is essential to select the molding temperature in this process. When the material has good plasticity, which is easy to carry out the process, but also can obtain high-performance products. TZM alloy ductile-brittle transition temperature range is form -95 ℃ to -45 ℃. Its ductile-brittle transition temperature is below than room temperature, so the TZM alloy can be processed between room temperature and recrystallization temperature. The initial recrystallization temperature of alloy  is 1150 ℃. Alloy plate crack drawing depth was observed at different temperatures found alloy at 25 ℃, 100 ℃, 300 ℃, 600 ℃, 700 ℃, 800 ℃, 900 ℃ and 1000 ℃ the crack drawing depth was 23mm, 32.5mm , 29.375mm, 42.16mm, 32.59mm, 31.15mm, 29.28mm, 16.73mm. The alloy crack drawing depth reached the highest value at 600 ℃, and therefore 600 ℃ most beneficial to the alloy plate plastic working. And TZM alloy boat material molding temperature is 600 ℃.

TZM Alloy Boat Bending-Stamping Forming

Sheet bending-forming has been widely used in the aerospace, automotive, electrical appliances, food packaging, household hardware, construction industry and other fields, and it is a very important machining technology. TZM alloy is an excellent molybdenum-based superalloy, and it is often used in aerospace, nuclear power industry, metallurgical industry, electronic industry and metal processing industry and other fields. TZM alloy boat has good high temperature performance, at 1000 ℃ used for containing molybdenum oxide for molybdenum powder production. TZM alloy boat production processes are as follows: mixing-ball-milling - isostatic pressing - sintering - rolling - welding or stamping molding. Considering the production process and product quality, employs bending-stamping on compacted TZM alloy sheet to obtained TZM alloy boat blank with quadrangle. After welding, we can obtain TZM alloy boat which has better performance.

TZM alloy has poor room temperature ductility processing performance and welding performance, so to obtain high performance materials boat, should be strictly controlled bending-stamping forming process.
1. During stamping forming, the seam on circular bead of boat too long or too short is not conducive to final product;
2. The friction coefficient increased from 0 to 0.3, sheet metal equivalent stress strain increases, but not obvious. But when it increased from 0.3 to 0.6, equivalent stress strain shows linearly increase and there are many areas wrinkled and perked.
3. The die gap in the appropriate range for forming effect is not obvious, but too small will cause scratches in sheet extrusion process, and too large it will lead to difficulties in welding.
4. TZM alloy plastic deformation at low-speed stamping is poor, and at high speed and medium speed, the plastic deformation ability is similar. If stamping speed is too low, the sheet metal will rupture, and high speed stamping will lead to overlap of corner angle, so the speed should be controlled within a reasonable range.

TZM Alloy Boat

TZM alloy boatTZM alloy has many good properties, such as high temperature resistance, high strength, high melting point, high elastic modulus, low linear expansion coefficient, good corrosion resistance and good thermal conductivity, so it is widely used in various fields. TZM alloy is also often prepared to a boat for molybdenum powder production. As we knew, molybdenum powder should produce at high temperature environment, which is at least 1000 ℃. The boat used for containing molybdenum powder should have good high temperature resistance, not easily deformed, and at high temperature there is not oxidation reaction to produce impurities. TZM alloy not only meet the above requirements, and using TZM alloy to make bout for molybdenum powder production can improvement the strength of powder, and also does not increase the impurity content of molybdenum powder. Titanium zirconium molybdenum alloy is made in a boat usually using a combination method, which is to mix stamping method with welding method. TZM alloy boat production processes are as following:
1. To obtain TZM alloy plates by vacuum furnace melting method or a powder metallurgy method.  The alloy boat molding temperature is about 600 ℃ and heating type is isothermal heating.
2. Select the GTAW welding process to weld TZM alloy. When the welding current at 210A, welding speed is 4mm/s and the argon gas flow rate is 8-12L / min, the weld of TZM is the best;
3. TZM alloy will oxidation at high temperatures, so during process, should do some oxidation resistance treatment. At 0 ~ 400 ℃, the oxidation rate of the alloy is slow and the surface will generate volatile MoO2. At 400 ~ 750 ℃, the alloy is rapidly oxidized and the surface will generate volatile MoO3. At 800-1000 ℃, alloy quality significantly fewer, because MnO3 is  evaporation.
