Why do we use molybdenum disilicide, MoSi2 heating element? Its use as a structural ceramic is limited by poor characteristics in two key areas:
1. Low toughness at temperatures less than 1000 means that the material is very brittle at room temperature, and only becomes plastic at elevated temperature.

2. Poor creep resistance at temperatures above 1200
