Molybdenum dicilicide
heating element is widely used as heating element as for its excellent
properties in the high temperature and cheap price.
The following is the
detail information of MoSi2 rod:
Purity of Mo:≥99.95%
Density: ≥10.2g /cm3
Why do we use molybdenum disilicide, MoSi2 heating element? MoSi2 has
good applications as for its attractive properties in the following: Moderate
density which is 6.4g /cm3; high
melting point referred 2230℃ ;
excellent oxidation resistance as for its good temperature resistance; High
modulus at elevated temperatures. As for these properties molybdenum disilicide
has become the most commonly used commercially in electric heating elements.

Its use as a structural ceramic is limited by poor characteristics in
two key areas:
1. Low toughness at temperatures less than 1000℃
means that the material is very brittle at room temperature, and only becomes
plastic at elevated temperature.
2. Poor creep resistance at temperatures above 1200℃ .
